How to paint a bedroom with more than one color?

Im looking to paint my bedroom and I am clueless to interior design. I heard that colors compliment one another, but am not skilled in this area. I am prettyy sure I want to paint my room a soft colored green, so I am asking can a room look nice with more than 1 wall color and if so how to do this.
Any ideas about furniture, fabrics, wall decor,colors, or bedding for a bedroom theme of an African Boutique?

Help me decorate my master bedroom!?

I love pretty much anything Pottery Barn…Cozy, luxurious, neutral with a splash of color.
My master bedroom is 14×20 with one large picture window and a smaller, skylight type window above it (there’s a vaulted ceiling).We have His and Hers closets and a bathroom. All the doors are white, the trim is oak, the the floor is gunstock oak.

Well my parents are building a new house and they said that I can design the interior of my new bedroom. I’ m soo excited.
